A little about our puppies...
Our puppies are AKC registered and come with a 2 year guarantee that covers any life threatening genetic disorders. If any genetic, life threatening disorder is discovered in the first 2 years, we would replace the puppy;  however you are not required to return the first dog you purchased. The puppies will have their dew claws removed, be wormed and up to date on shots when they leave for their new homes. They will have a certificate of health from my vet and will also be microchipped. I will be listed as one of the contacts on the microchip paperwork. This is just to help ensure that one of my puppies NEVER end up in rescue, or even worse, the pound. The puppies will be socialized with children every day. I have 2 daughters that are 13 and 9 and they play with the puppies EVERY day! We like to invite their friends and our neighbors children over as much as possible to introduce the puppies to different people, especially children! Of course that is only the beginning and socialization must be continued in their new home to ensure a confident, well adjusted Ridgeback.
Prices and explanations...
Our prices are dependent on the "type" of puppy... pet or show quality. I have provided an explanation of the differences below. All puppies come with the SAME health guarantee which basically states that we will replace your puppy if there is any life threatening genetic problems discovered in the first 2 years. A $300 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit will hold a puppy until 8 weeks of age. Your deposit is applied to the total cost of your puppy.
- Show Potential, $2000-$2500 - Pick puppy with great conformation and a perfect ridge. Puppy should mature into a competitive show dog. This is the puppy we would keep if we were keeping one from the litter. Sold with *FULL registration.
- Pet, $1200-$1500 - Puppies may have no cosmetic flaws (show quality that will be sterilized) or may have minor cosmetic flaws such as a third crown or too much white. These puppies are just as healthy as their show potential littermates but are sold with **limited registration and a spay/neuter contract.
- Ridgeless, $800 - Puppies with no ridge but are completely healthy and have that same Ridgeback personality! Rhodesian "Slickbacks" make wonderful pets! Sold with **LIMITED registration and spay/neuter contract.
*Full Registration – Dogs that have Full Registration AKC papers may be shown in all AKC recognized events. These dogs may also be bred and the puppies can be registered with AKC. These dogs are typically sold on a co-ownership agreement unless other arrangements are made and agreed to by both parties.
** Limited Registration – These dogs can be shown in MOST AKC recognized events, but can not be shown in conformation shows (dog shows). These dogs can NOT be bred. If they are bred on accident (or on purpose) the puppies can NOT be registered.
If you do not understand the difference between Full and Limited registration,
please ask prior to placing your deposit.
How everyone gets the “Pick of the Litter”!
Your deposit guarantees that we will help you pick the best puppy FOR YOU!! How this works is, after talking extensively with you, via phone or email, we determine together what your “perfect” puppy would be. When the puppies are born, I watch each one closely from the very beginning to see how they interact with each other and new situations. At 6 weeks of age, we pick puppies. This insures that everyone gets the “PICK OF THE LITTER” because the puppy is picked that best matches your wants and needs! It is a joint effort between us and you.
Why do we do this? – Unfortunately, some of our buyers live too far away to come visit the puppies in person. Some people can only come once. So choosing their own puppy would be based solely on the puppy’s looks, or “who ran to me first”. That is not the right way to choose a puppy. Looks are important, but are only half the package and what you may see on one visit, may not be a good representative of that puppy on a regular basis. The whole package must be considered when picking the right puppy. That is why we want to help you pick the best puppy... FOR YOU AND FOR YOUR PUPPY!!!
Your puppy has a home for LIFE!!
The most important thing that I want anyone interested in one of our puppies to know is that if you can not keep your puppy for ANY reason, I will ALWAYS take the puppy back! I know that no one gets a puppy with the intention of giving it up later, but sometimes life throws you a curveball and things you never thought would happen sometimes does. If that happens, I don't want anyone afraid to tell me that and allow me the opportunity to find the puppy/dog another home. If that can't be done, I will always take him/her back. We will always be his/her family!
I hope I have answered a lot of questions and possibly told you more than you even wanted to know. ; ) I like to give all the information up front BEFORE any decisions are made. Picking your breeder is one of the most important decisions you will make when deciding on a new puppy! I hope to hear from you soon!
