Bella and Duke Litter
This page has updates from one week before birth and the birth day! The babies are here! DOB: January 27, 2007  Bella went into labor late Friday night with the first puppy (a girl) ariving at 3:45 AM, Saturday morning! Bella then took a 4 hour break, so after a call to the vet, she was given a shot to help jump start her contractions again. It WORKED! At 9:19 AM, the secong puppy (a boy) was born. The remaining puppies followed at a pretty regular pace with no problems! We are so happy the litter is healthy, strong, and that their mother is also doing well with her new brood! The final stats are: 4 females and 5 males. All puppies have PERFECT ridges and minimal white. ALL puppies are gorgeous, but of course I'm a little biased. It will be a long while before we know who is show quality, but we are sure getting off to a GREAT start! January 25, 2007 Well, I said the next entry would have puppy birth day pictures. I was wrong... but close! We took Bella to the vet today for an x-ray to see how many babies we should be expecting. The vet is guessing between 7-9 but Bella is so big he said there could even be more. We are hoping the x-ray was close as I don't want Bella overwhelmed (or me for that matter!). We will just have to wait and see! Oh yeah, the pictures... see the x-ray below! HOW COOL!  Only one week to go!!! January 21, 2007 WE are so excited! I'm not so sure about Bella though. She is looking pretty miserable and I think she is ready to get this over with. I kind of know how she feels, but I never had more than one at a time! I can feel the puppies kicking and they sure are active. I can't imagine how Bella gets any sleep! She is getting spoiled even more than normal right now with daily rub downs and lots of extra love and attention!! Now THAT part she LOVES! In case you haven't figured it out yet... we also have decided on a theme for this litter. Since we have had no winter here in Florida to speak of, we decided to do a "Tropical Winter" theme. The puppies will all have Hawaiian names and pictures should also be a lot of fun. (The Hawaiian names will only be litter names. The new owners will choose the registered names.)
